Wedding, funeral services of the deceased, vocational freedom parties in Lagos can never be recognized until a whole street, avenue or close is blocked by celebrants and musicians, causing hardships to motorists. This disturbs communities and also pollutes the streets with leftover food, bottles and pure water bags.
Residents of Agege, Ikeja, Orile- Iganmu, Ajegunle, Ilupeju, Ikorodu and Ketu can testify to this as they experience hardships, sleepless nights and environmental pollution.
If the Lagos State government’s recent ban on street parties is to be effective, then the law prohibiting illegal commercial activities obstruction of traffic has to be enforced and people found breaking the law should be dealt with.
Good road networks with less traffic obstruction play a vital role, not only on our health, but also on the price and cost of living. The efficiency of transporting goods and services depends on good traffic flow. On this basis, the long stay of vehicles on the road consumes a lot of fuel, which affects the cost of goods passed to the final consumers.
